Join Prospect Park Alliance on select weekends throughout the season to celebrate the park and our environment! Volunteers will tackle a range of projects from tree care to removing invasive plants and weeds, picking up trash and much more!
Park Pitch In: Green and Go

Help Prospect Park Alliance keep our park green and vibrant! Explore the park while tackling litter and helping with other greening opportunities. Supplies can be checked out at various locations around the park and include all necessary tools for your volunteer experience. Green and Go Kits are Offered: June 22, Aug 2, Aug 24.
Appropriate for groups, supervised youth ages 9-13, teens and adults. Locations vary by date.

Park Pitch In: World Environment Day
Sunday, June 1, 11 am–2 pm

Join Prospect Park Alliance for World Environment Day to help care for Brooklyn’s Backyard. World Environment Day is celebrated annually in June and encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment. During this event, volunteers will mulch paths in the Peninsula forest. Appropriate for teens and adults.

Park Pitch In: National Trails Day
Saturday, June 7, 11 am–2 pm

Prospect Park is home to several miles of trails, including areas such as the Peninsula, the Midwood and Lookout Hill. Join Prospect Park Alliance on National Trails Day to help support and care for our trails system on this national day of service. Volunteers will support trails on Lookout Hill, by mulching and widening trails to ensure safe and easy access. Volunteers may also assist with other tasks, such as litter removal, path edging and more. Appropriate for groups, teens and adults.

Park Pitch In: Invasive Species Week
Saturday, June 14, 11 am–2 pm

Come help Prospect Park fight against the spread of invasive species and protect our native ecosystems! Invasive species are plants that are not native to an area and can cause harm to our environment. Each year, Invasive Species Awareness Week educates New Yorkers about how to do their part to safeguard our lands and waters against invasive species. During this event, volunteers will be removing unwanted plants from our natural areas to make room for native plants and support the Alliance’s work to sustain our park ecosystem. Appropriate for groups, teens and adults.

Park Pitch In: Pollinator Day
Sunday, June 15, 11 am–2 pm

Pollinator Week is an annual event celebrated internationally in support of pollinator health. Join Prospect Park Alliance as we care for one of Prospect Park’s most important pollinator habitats, the Butterfly Meadow on Lookout Hill. Volunteers will help by sprucing up the surrounding area to keep it accessible and clean. Tasks may include trail mulching, path edging, litter removal and more. Appropriate for groups, teens and adults.

Park Pitch In: Lake Appreciation Month
Select Saturdays + Sundays in July, 10–12 pm

Help Prospect Park Alliance care for Prospect Park’s 60-acre lake during our special clean-up series, Park Pitch In: Lake Appreciation. During the month of July, Prospect Park will host cleanup projects on select Saturdays and Sundays to show Brooklyn’s only lake some love. Volunteers will be given grabbers, nets, and bags to help fish out trash from along the shoreline of our Lake. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to remove invasive, unwanted wild growing plants from along the Lake, as well as apply mulch to paths. All participants aged 9-13 must be supervised by an adult.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to remove invasive, unwanted wild growing plants, apply mulch to paths, and complete other landscaping tasks. Appropriate for groups, teens and adults.
